Custom scales and Waldorf Q
Create your own scales in Preset Library and select them in MIDI note mappings. Their notes are stored with each slot for standalone playing.
The Waldorf Q template includes prepared CC mappings and a documented parameter library. Filter cutoff, filter type and routing hold their last values when tracking stops.
Existing scales and saved mappings remain compatible. Install Studio 2.5 to use custom scales and the new Q filter mappings.
Preview release. Automated mapping, storage and update tests pass. Live testing with a Waldorf Q is still required.
Movement mapping
Control MIDI CC, NRPN, notes, scales and Double Luck with hand movement. Includes spread, tilt and palm position.
Existing presets are preserved. If a preset uses unsupported inputs, choose replacement movement sources before applying it.
Preview release. Firmware programming and mapping transport have been checked on hardware. Browser flashing and recovery are awaiting a live hardware trial.
An update backup is kept in this browser before firmware is written.
Use the same browser and site address to continue an interrupted update. If the instrument no longer starts, it may need to be placed in update mode manually.
Browser support
Use desktop Chrome or Edge on HTTPS or localhost. Allow USB access when prompted. Windows requires a WinUSB driver for DFU; see Windows USB setup below.
Supported original firmware can install Studio directly here. Saved presets remain on the device and can be imported into drafts after installation. Unsaved changes running on original firmware are not restored.
Windows USB setup
If DFU appears in the chooser but access is denied, first close other flashing apps and other tabs using the device, then retry.
If access is still denied, check the DFU driver using Zadig. This is a one-time Windows driver setup and may require administrator approval.
- Leave double q connected in DFU mode. In Zadig, choose Options → List All Devices.
- Select the DFU device and verify its USB ID is 0483 DF11. Change only this device’s driver; leave the normal MIDI and serial devices alone.
- Choose WinUSB, then Install Driver or Replace Driver. If WinUSB is already installed, check for another app holding the device or a computer policy blocking USB access.
- Close Zadig and select DFU again here. If Chrome needs restarting, return to this same site and browser profile, then choose Continue interrupted update. Keep the browser’s site data so it retains your backup.
If the instrument restarts into its normal mode before installation begins, use Continue later, reconnect and start the update again to enter DFU.
Windows driver setup and a complete update still need validation on the user’s computer. Zadig instructions · Chrome USB requirements
